Types of Massages Offered

Pre/Postnatal Massage: Specific protocols designed for the safety of mother and baby as well as relief from common pregnancy symptoms affecting the body, including, but not limited to sciatica, pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel, pain in the rib cage and hip flexors, and sore feet.
*Massage can be safe in all trimesters of pregnancy. However, if you have several high risk factors, please discuss with your midwife or OB before receiving massage and it is imperative that all pregnant clients make sure to fill out the medical intake form entirely and accurately. *

Movement and Structural: Helps you to re-educate your own body movements to obtain better strength and relaxation.

Deep tissue: Often a catch-all term referring to a customized massage that uses strong pressure and involves working the deep, connective tissues; designed to release chronic aches and pains.

Swedish: The "traditional" massage; a less-intense, very relaxing type of massage.

Trigger point: Involves the application of pressure to specific areas of the body that can release the pain in other associated areas.

Medical Massage: Specifically directed to resolve conditions that have been diagnosed and prescribed by a Physician.

Myofascial Release: A treatment designed to break up bound fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and spans the space between muscles, bones, joints, and organs. This technique often involves stretching.

Cupping: Local suction is created in the skin with application of cups in order to create better lymph flow and general circulation. Cupping has also been shown to increase collagen in the skin and help with skin elasticity, thereby reducing the appearance of cellulite. Cupping can also help with muscle soreness and joint stiffness due to it’s particular effect on fascia. The traditional cupping marks, that often look like bruises, are typically not painful and simply indicate areas of stagnation in the body. The cups will only be held on the body for 15-20 minutes, sometimes less depending on your personal reaction to the cups.

We incorporate many of these massage techniques into your customized massage sessions,
but if you would like a specific focus on a particular one, we are perfectly willing to accommodate you!
